measuring up!

daddy and grandpa measured jack for his first time up against the wall. standing he is a different height than he is laying down at the dr.'s office. he measured 28.5" standing. at ten months he measured 29.5" long laying down.

presents!

jack was blessed with generous friends and family giving him presents for his birthday. he got books, clothes, gift cards, and lots of fun toys! his girlfriend, mercedi, gave him the slinky - he loves that slinky! he got the learning table and shopping cart from the dunns & daytons. he is so funny with the shopping cart....when he gets it stuck he lifts up the entire thing to move it. he got the toy dog from grandma & grandpa and the dump truck from cousins keith & joanna (who are expecting their first child!). he loves all of the new things to play with. he did not open his gifts until after the party was over since he wanted to take a nap after the cake. grandma & grandpa palmer saved more gifts for him to open on his actual birthday. we just got him 3 baby einstein books that have sound.

cake!

so the sombrero cake was one of the coolest thing about his party! nanny "jim" (kim mecham) made it for him. by the time we got to it jack was ready for a nap so he did not last long! he also proceeded to rub the frosting in his eye.

the last 3 photos are from jack's real birthday (sunday the 30th) and the cupcake we gave him. this boy loves sugar!

pinata & sign

it was hard to know where to begin with uploading all of the photos from jack's birthday weekend! here is jack with his friends doing a pull-string pinata. i love how he watches the chaos around him. we rented a sign by our house for $10 to put a happy birthday wish to jack. the lyrics are from stevie wonders 'you are the sunshine of my life'.

Daddy & Jack

i took some shots of jack and daddy before the shoot with liz. we went to the union station to see the trains. jack had a hard time walking on the railroad part. he was happiest just walking around and doing his own thing.

12 month photos by Liz Richardson

We hired Liz Richardson to do Jack's 12 month photos. There are a ton that I love, but here are just a few. Some of the ones I love I am in and did not want to post online. I may post more later. Jack was a fuss bucket since it was so close to his bedtime, but Liz was still able to capture some great shots in-between his melt downs.

silly jack

jack was being so funny last night that i busted out my camera to capture him being goofy. looking at these i started to see that he is starting to look like a little boy.

on top of spaghetti....

jack ate spaghetti for the first time and loved it! the best part was him getting it everywhere! he likes to be a big boy and feed himself (with the help of mom!). jack had a bad reaction to the anti-biotics, but he is feeling much better now. his ear infection is gone and his hives are almost gone.

raylin's bday party

my sister, raylin, turned 23 this weekend. jack and i went out with her for sushi on saturday and jack had my favorite (eel!) he ate one and half pieces and loved it! today was raylin's surprise party and jack got to hang out with hs cousin's alexis & alora. jack had no smiles for us today since he was feeling crummy.

jack and cream puff

jack took his first ride in "cream puff" the '68 caddy. he did not like the sun in his eyes. but other than that he did ok. that is how blake waters the grass with jack. most of the time jack likes it, but since he has been sick he did not last long. he has had double ear infections with a fever and he is allergic to the anti-biotics he was given. he had hives everywhere. the last picture is our dog copper with our garden.

big boy bath

jack loves bath time! i finally got some photos of him in our big tub. he loves his rubber ducky and toothbrush! i scrub him down pretty quick and then just let him play. he loves to slide on his belly. the top photo is of me in the tub. i was probably a couple of months younger than jack.

family birthday party

we had a family birthday this sunday and jack got to play with his cousins. his cousin alexis loves playing with him. so, we are really liking the name lucas and luke for short. i think we may like it better than james. besides my grandmother did not like the initials J.A. (james allen) because it is short for jack ass. her words, not mine.

jack getting is art groove on

jack got to meet the artist and author, corinne humphrey, of the tao of rudy. (www.thetaoofrudy.com) this book has won 2 awards and i have wanted it for some time. she had a booth at the festival. as soon as we walked into her booth jack lit up and was giggling and smiling and poiting to her art. she signed and personalized a copy to jack. the book is about this dog she rescued and the things he taught her. it is heart warming, especially if you love dogs. nanny "jim" (kimmi) came up too to help with jack during the day. she is pictured giving jack a kiss while he is wearing her sunglasses.
